It was...  Site-specific installation: mirrors, smoke, cosmetics with intermittent performance of an actress uttering dialogue appropriated from horror films.
Linked film screening. Dimensions variable.
Installation at The Edwardian Cloakroom, Bristol.

A narrative installation based on messages written by women in horror. The work continues ongoing research into feminine tropes in film and how female protagonists in horror, along with the young and the insane, are portrayed as being in touch with supernatural knowledge or realms.

The title It Was… is the start of an unfinished message left in a mirror by Amanda Righetti, an author on the paranormal from Argento’s Profondo Rosso (1975) who is murdered in a terrifying bathroom scene.
