The Black Cloud Physically manipulated archival pigment print on paper, 5 x 3 m.
Installed at Recreational Grounds II, a site-specific exhibition at Wendover House Car Park, London. Curated by Fiona Grady and Tim Ralston.
A site-specific, sculptural print installation made from astronomical data of dark nebulae (extremely dense interstellar clouds). Challenging the heavily constructed nature of astronomical imagery and typical consumption of 2-dimensional data, the sculpture offers an experience of cosmic immensity. The title refers to the 1957 science-fiction novel of the same name by astrophysicist Fred Hoyle where an enourmous cloud of gas enters the Solar System and threatens to destroy life on Earth by blocking the Sun's radiation.
